Willow Tributary is an act of both material intuition and environmental attunement. Composed of local willow branches— found throughout Ontario’s waterways and often overlooked for their ecological value—the work honours the plant’s quiet but vital role in holding landscapes together. Each branch is woven by hand into forms that echo the fluidity of water, following the natural rhythm and form of materials alive with movement—an act not of mastering nature, but of joining in relationship with it. What emerges is rather than a fixed object, a living gesture—an invitation to notice how connection, support, and resilience are shaped not through force, but through careful, responsive attention. Graham Teeple (@grahamteeple) is a gardener, designer, consultant, and willow weaver. His projects are inherently collaborative: with plants, soil, water, and animals (including humans). His work aims to encourage reintegration with the world around us. Graham completed his Permaculture Design Certificate with Verge Permaculture and an M.A. in Art History from York University. He lives in Toronto. Curated by Natasa Hansen (Toronto Flower Market). In collaboration with Sian Pritchard (Wind and the Willows) and Bethany Rose Puttkemery (Smells Like Flowers)
