Bill Stearman is a 72-year-old queer quilt-maker from Picton, Ontario. His work wraps our food truck at Drake Devonshire—a bold, beautiful quilt transformed into moving art. “As a gay man, the erosion of basic human rights south of our border terrifies me. This quilt tells the story of progress I’ve seen in Canada during my lifetime—and my own coming out story. Neither is finished. It’s our personal and collective responsibility to protect and advance Canadian values. Maintain the wave!” Since receiving a life-saving liver transplant in 2021, Bill is determined to use every gifted day to spark positive change. His mantra? Grab on, or get out of the way!
